Research is the foundation towards tackilng the myriad of problems recurring in Africa in policy formulation and its implementation through sustainable evidence based solutions.
What is it that we are not doing that others are doing to secure food security?
What is it that we have as a community, a city or a country that we can use to improve food security in the country and in the region?
What lessons has the past decisions made at national and municipal level taught us, and how can we use them to make informed decisions now?
Are debates around women and youth separate from food security, public health and poverty discourses?
While there are gaps in research, it has been occuring for decades- It is the utilization of the research in policy formulation and implementation that is lagging behind. There is a need to recognize the importance of research and utilize it. This has been reiterated on several platforms and we need to move beyond talking, to walk the talk!
